A Good book to learn about tribes and some history of tribes across America, but is not detailed about all tribes.

This is a comprehensive treatment of the history of Indians in North America, so it's a great resource tool! I look forward to reading it slowly in bits & pieces, learning all the while.. An excellent volume for anyone's library.

I recently purchased two North Korean photo books, "Inside North Korea" (which is this one) and "North Korea" (North Korea). Both books are excellent but the two are actually quite different.This book is the more comprehensive of the two books. While the other book ("North Korea") stays primarily within Pyongyang, this book covers various regions of the country. This book also has more detailed photo captions, including English translations for many of the propaganda posters that can be found everywhere.This book is comparatively more verbose than "North Korea." The Foreword is by Bruce Cumings, and each chapter also begins with an introduction of usually a couple of pages. Some people may find this useful; I usually just go straight to the photos.There are many photos of the yearly Arirang Festival presented here. It looks like they're trying to portray the panels flipping from one side to the other, which creates a larger, composite image of the Great Leader. About half of the Arirang photos may seem redundant (unless you've never seen video footage of this before).If you want to learn more about the country and could only buy one photo book, this is the one I would buy. If you're looking for a more esthetically pleasing coffee table book, then I would recommend "North Korea" (North Korea), but keep in mind that book stays predominately within Pyongyang.

When I purchased this book, I envisioned a narrative of life in North Korea, however, I quickly discovered this book WAS NOT what I had expected. Pleasantly surprised, I opened the book to see dozens of high-resolution photographs of North Korean cultural sites, monuments, Pyongyang, the DMZ, towns and farms, and Koreans. It shocked me to see these photographs, which were no-doubt screened before leaving the country, of a reclusive nation with a rich historical background.The book is large, full of photographs, and sparse on narrative. The photographer teamed with noted American author and Korean Historian Bruce Cumings for the forward.Photographs include: Mass Games, Pyongyang, The Monument to the Workers' Party, the Juche Tower, trolleys and subways, the Mansudae Grand Monument on Mansu Hill, the Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum, Arch of Triumph, the Reunification Arch, the DMZ, murals, soldiers in uniform, children, farmers, and small towns.

This gives one a quick overview and some cool pics of North Korea. Great way to get a basic understanding of what it's like in N. Korea

It's a nice book with lots of pretty pictures.

For the price, not good. Basic overview that jumps around... pretty generic and ridiculously expensive for how short it is. Nothing you couldn't get from a Google search

This book had a few interesting tidbits, but it was fairly short and made up of mostly pictures, it hardly had much detail and history. If you want the absolute minimum historical context of the DPRK and a bunch of pictures, then this book will suffice.

I have read quite a few books about North Korea, most with few or no pictures. It's nice to see pictures of the places I have read about.

The book came in excellent shape, I really enjoyed it and it was very informative.

A very, very funny book. I was taking care of grand sons, ages 11 and 8, while parents were gone for two nights overnight. The 8 year old always is sad when his mom is gone and its hard for him to relax enough to go to sleep. I used this book as a diversion and it really worked! He was laughing and giggling and totally forgetting his mom was not with him at bed time. Made it a lot easier!

Let me start by saying that Shel Silverstein can do no wrong. I have been a fan of his from his first book. As one child who checked out Where the Sidewalk Ends said, "He's so silly but I like him." Runny Babbit lives up to its subtitle -- a Billy Sook. Words turn backwards and animals have silly ideas. Perfect for a book to read to your little ones. Fun for the older kids to play with the words and create their own Billy Sook.Thank you, Shel.

I've been a fan of Shel Silverstein's work since I was a kid. Intrigued by his poetry back then, I now work as a Private Tutor and have used a lot of his books to help children with learning to read on the next level (or those who are simply struggling with reading as they tend to just find it "boring.")Of course, getting children to develop better reading skills will only happen if they practice reading consistently. Reading a book they enjoy will certainly help hold their interest and make them WANT to read. Books packed with funny poems are definitely a good method to try. Kids WILL want to read them!My First Grade student who I tutor in Reading (among other subjects) absolutely LOVES reading poems by Shel Silverstein. What he used to find boring, he now finds interesting and fun. We started with "Where The Sidewalk Ends" and he just couldn't get enough. I ended up purchasing "A Light In The Attic" for him to read as well and, of course, "Runny Babbit."You can expect the same Shel Silverstein humor & entertainment from "Runny Babbit," but it's also a bit different as, just like the title, the poems contain words with 'backwards' letters & kids can't help but laugh at this (and they DO understand how the first letter of the words have been reversed).I definitely recommend this book to any child who enjoys reading, likes humor in poetry as well as children who need that extra "push" to get them interested in reading more. (I should also mention it does make us adults chuckle quite often as well!)

If you can remember "Hee Haw" television and remember when they read about Rindercella and her stugly ep sisters, then you'll enjoy seeing this type of fun in print. After watching the television program when I was a young mother and auntie to nephews and niece, there were times when story reading became a time for ME to have a bit more fun with the books that I had read so many, many times. At that time, the kids did NOT like me to read their favorite stories in the odd fashion but I got a kick out of it. I found Runny Babbit was available while looking for Shel Silverstein books for my granddaughters. The copy I got was a used library copy so the price was right and I bought it for them. I reviewed the book before giving it to them and I hope it will bring them some fun story time off and on in the years to come. Runny Babbit takes a little getting used to until your mind engages in the fun and stops trying to work so hard. Makes you laugh. In the Silverstein tradition, it is short prose and not a continuing story throughout the book. Personally, I think it is just as much fun to take a story we are all familiar with, like Cinderella and her ugly step sisters and read it the 'wrong' way and have a few laughs too.

Shel, I love you, and I appreciate the artistic nature of this book, but I fail to see the point of using this style. It would have been funnier if interesting word were created by the transcription of letters, but unfortunately those are few and far between. I advise buyers that this is not a good book to read to youngsters who are still learning to read because it will confuse the bejesus out of their poor little minds.

The plays on words are a lot of fun for adults to read, but are difficult to read aloud and impossible for young children to follow. We got this to read to our 3-1/2 year old grandson, for which it's a failure, although we do enjoy it ourselves.

Some parts of this book are read every nite to my grandson's satisfaction. The boy doesn't really understand how swapping letters changes things - all that is so far beyond him. However, the sound of the unfamiliar words charms him into squeals​ of laughter every single time his parents read it to him. This will be a winner even if your youngster doesn't understand the relationship between "Runny Babbit" and "Bunny Rabbit".

It's bad enough trying to keep your kid's interest reading books, but this one is just confusing for both of us. Having to keep going back and explain what I just read? Every sentence?...

Just received Animal print paper. like the designs, paper is same front and back, which I think will work out fine for making the animals. There aresix different designs. Haven't tried them yet,but they look the same as other Tuttle paper I have gotten in the past.Out of all the papers I have bought I like the Tuttle brand best so far.

I gave this to my 9 year old grandson and we have been doing simple origami for about 3 years, but on first attempt by himself had a little trouble. So I tried to help with it and sort of figured it out, but directions weren't as clear as others we've tried.

Fun paper for my granddaughter.

I gave this to the child of a friend for a gift. He had minimal experience doing oragami, and said this paper was easier to work with and what he made looked better. Also, the selection of papers included were good. (I have a feeling he worked with inferior quality paper before - just based upon his comments.)

cheap but terrible paper for origami. This paper is just too thin for origami and rips easily. Do not be seduced by the low price. You get what you pay for.

I should have listened to some of the reviews. This paper is only good for the simplest of models.

I found this when purchasing - on Amazon, of course, and origami book my granddaughter wanted and knew she would love it - yep she does. I performs well and items hold their shape. Great item.

I bought 3 packages of this paper from Tuttle via Amazon. I wanted the larger 9 inch size to learn more complicated folding. The paper is kind of glossy - so the true form of the model is kind of lost. Plus the ink they used in the papers comes off in my hands. However I could have lived with all of that ....Except for one thing. I believe the manufacturer should not have listed these as origami papers. The paper is thick. So thick it is impossible to fold any model more complicated than folding a letter for an envelope. Because of the thickness, the paper is useless for me. It was only when I received the package that I noticed it said for the beginner folder. That should have been noted in big letters by the manufacturer. All they stressed in the product image was that the patterns were traditional. Meaning the manufacturer already knew it was thick and not usable for the vast majority of origami models.I would have liked to send it back, but unfortunately I used some of the papers.Next time I will look only for those papers that have some kind of product description - an indication whether the manufacturer stands by their product. I used to buy wonderful Japanese and Chinese children's books from Tuttle. Beautifully printed and presented. That is why I trusted buying these papers. Too bad, how far their standards have descended.

Awesome truths

This book contains misleading information. If one don't know other works outside this book, you will swallow a lie! Half truths, just like the devil when he wants to deceives...The Seventh-day Adventism is in the same boat which he uses to condemn the other side. He failed to expose the Adventist's roots of also having connections with Freemasonry, the Sun-god worship, and the co-founders, Mr. James and Ellen White being Luciferians as well. Also, I noticed, that the same errors that the Adventists used to perverse history and the Bible he copied-cat.

I like the fact that the author utilized both scripture and history in a responsible manner. He uses quotations accurately.I am disappointed with the misleading review that one person made. I understand that he or she does not like Seventh Day Adventists but I wish that he would be specific and document his charges against the church and two of its pioneers. Even Jesus was accused of being a glutton and a wine bibber. Anyone can make accusations. I don't know if the writer was mislead by reading popular diatribes against the Adventist church or he is just plain dishonest. Anyone with a rudimentary knowledge of the writings of Ellen White, and the history of the church would know of Mrs Whites condemnation of secret societies , her exaltation of Jesus and her condemnation of Satan and his hosts. My appeal is that this writer do a thorough study of primary documents and repent when he discgvers his or her error. it's interesting that Mr Sutton;s analysis is largely in agreement with the conclusions of other Christian researchers.
