About the Author
Haruichi Furudate began his manga career when he was 25 years old with the one-shot Ousama Kid (King Kid), which won an honorable mention for the 14th Jump Treasure Newcomer Manga Prize. His first series, Kiben Gakuha, Yotsuya Sensei no Kaidan (Philosophy School, Yotsuya Sensei’s Ghost Stories), was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump in 2010. In 2012, he began serializing Haikyu!! in Weekly Shonen Jump, where it became his most popular work to date.

Great! I love this manga series
~3.5/5I took a little break since reading the previous volume, so I had to get back into the mood for volleyball. Since I'm also not a sports person, it took about half a volume for the excitement to kick back in.We're still in the fight with Blue Castle, and it's intense. We end the first round and then the second round, and of course we're halfway through the third round when the volume ends. Though, I was getting so worked up at the end of the second round, that for a moment I forgot that it wasn't the end.I love seeing all of the character development and relationship progress amidst the games. All of the Karasuno players are rather new and are still getting to know each other. It's nice seeing them come together to win, come to understandings and decide to move past problems. Especially Kageyama, who has to figure out how to play with all of his teammates that are not Hinata.We also get to know each team they're fighting. We got some insight in the competition between Kageyama and Oikawa. It was also refreshing to see Oikawa's teammates giving him a hard time, and their acknowledging his fakeness. It was interesting to see how he got where he is now, though.I'm hooked, yet again. V7 served as opportunity to give Sugawara some much needed screen time and development. Though he is a senior team member, his lack of ability as compared to the first year volleyball prodigy, Kageyama, and his lack of actual playtime, makes itself apparent fast. However, what he lacks in ability is quickly made up in his refreshing outlook brought to the team and his ability to handle the players emotionally. I also like his reliable by the books playstyle that helped carry us through the 2nd set preventing it from becoming a repetitive drag. I enjoyed the set of chapters with him in play as well as his outlook, I think he also is easily one of the more relateable characters in the series.The volume was also great for showing the growth of the egotistical tyrant Kageyama into a more open and willing to listen King. His social skills could be worked on but I like some of his changes. It was also funny especially his continued actions with handling the pair of Middle Blockers Tsukishima and Hinata in their own special ways.Excellent volume with good sketches and data features included.
