I bought this book sight unseen and I'm glad I did. It is not your typical tourism guidebook. Rather, it provides local insight to seemingly every city, town, and village in Tasmania. Local history, neatly hand-drawn maps, and many small black & white photos add to every entry. You can tell that Sally and Darrel Odgers literally traveled each road trip and wrote down their thoughts and impressions - like a friend or neighbor giving you notes on where to go when you visit. It may not be the right book for someone who wants a two-day tourist trap view of the island, but if you really want to explore Tasmania, this provides numerous insights.
