The author of this series of mafioso books, Joe Bruno, is well versed in his ability to make the reader understand the lives of the underworld and its high or not so high profile mobsters, their wives, lovers, family and the whole nine yards.

This was a decent read...passed the time but was VERY repetitive. Had some good info but wished it had more.

Not exactly a bevy of new info here if you've read very much mobspeak or watched even one episode of "Mob Wives". It's not a Pileggi writing by far, but I guess it doesn't masquerade as such. Pretty forgettable short read I would say, especially since right now I can't recall much of it! I would have perused it before this review but my Kindle ridded itself of it right after I hit the 'delete' button! Happy reading folks!

Ridiculous. Information in this book is written for preteens. Worthless for anyone familiar with or who has experience with make-up.

This book was a good learning tool for tool for me. If you are learning to do makeup or you are a pro it is a good investment. I really like different styles that it shows you and the recapies for the lip gloss so it gets a 5 from me!

Only thing I wish is I could have found a new copy. I sponsored a pre teen, at Christmas, that asked for make up. I thought what a great gift for a little girl caught in the system. It was a used book but the only book I found of its kind. That totally shocked me!! There are or used to be huge stores of books that explain how to do EVERYTHING.Girls NEED more books like this. Kids NEED to read more and less YouTube. Not every child is fortunate enough to have their own personal smart technology.I cant imagine seeing many under privileged girls at school or in the library watching videos of how to put on make up. Although it probably happens from time to time, I can understand how it might be a bit embarrassing for other kids to find out you don’t have a cell phone, table or computer to watch at home.Especially if mom isn’t around or doesn’t know herself to show a young girl how to apply makeup appropriately and properly.I just hope she used it!

Review 1: We've been using the BIG workbooks for our son since he was 3. At first we simply got him the Pre-K workbook, and he went through that. We started homeschooling him at 4, and bought one of the textbooks in math that the local public schools uses and created all the other curriculum by hand. This book has been WONDERFUL for adding extra practice to everything we've been working on for "Kindergarten". It's colorful and about half way through the Kindergarten workbook my son had learned how to read the directions so he was able to use it as an independent workbook. This allowed him to practice his letters, numbers, etc for "fun" anytime he felt the urge. I would definitely recommend this to other homeschooling parents or traditional schooling parents who notice that there kids need a little extra help and practice. My 5yo daughter loves this workbook. She will be entering kindergarten in August and has always loved to write, draw, and read. This book holds her attention and stimulates her brain. She particularly enjoys the letters and writing the words for pictures like "olive" and "ox". (We are on "O" this week.) I also ordered the preschool version for my 4yo and she enjoys the maps and puzzles as well as the color exercises. And for the price, you can't beat the deal!

This book is huge and in my opinion really covers everything a child needs to learn. There is. Table of contents that separates each subject. Worksheets in each subject start basic to more complex. I bought this for my pre-schooler to get her ready for kindergarten quick. I don't believe this will be over her head. Lots of fun pictures and colorful pages. Also pages kids can color. Teacher key in the back of book too. I find it unnecessary but it does t take up a lot of space in book.

The mete risk covered in this book is good, I like that it gives several different activities for each lesson. My only complaint is that I wish they would have placed the same item being taught together on the front and back pages. Instead if for example, lessons on the letter A on one side while letter B is on the back side. I would prefer to have letter A on back and front and letter B on the following page. I like to tear out the pages I am using because if I don't my daughter will go and mark up the whole book in one sitting, and she wants to turn the page over and do the activities on the back side but that might not be what I am teaching that day.

I LOVE this workbook!! I homeschool my special needs son and I have spent SO much money on expensive curriculum that he just doesn't understand or its way to advanced. This workbook was RIGHT on!! He understands everything in this book and is learning!! He's happy which makes mommy happy!!

Let's first acknowledge that I LOVE the content. They did a great job! As a certified educator, I'm very pleased with the way the content is paralleled with what my son is doing in school.The HUGE ISSUE is that the worksheets don't tear out clean, but the book is too condensed for the sheets to lay flat enough to work on still attached to the book. Where does that leave me? With a workbook that's not fully functional- wasted 💵. I purchased their Pre-K book for my other son, and did not experience this.

I have been using learning books with my kids for a number of years now, and although this company is one that I can purchase as several stores locally, I found it was a little cheaper online. One of the things I really appreciate is the consistency with the books themselves, they are always put together well, use lots of color, actually allow adequate space for a child to use for practice and they are comparable to what is being taught in each grade. I think the pre-k and kindergarten books are too similar, so if you are at a crossroads and have to pick, I would go kindergarten for sure! I liked the first grade book a lot, the second grade one was not quite hard enough, but I noticed my daughter was really catching onto things in second grade, so we bumped her up. The books are well worth the money and are really a great extra tool.

My Daughter just turned 4 1/2 years old in October. She had just finished the Preschool book in 1 month and we went right into this! You can see her writing in 2 of the pictures. She completes 12 pages a day. At this rate we will be starting the First Grade book by New Year's. We do use multiple work books to reinforce the ideas from this book to give a full curriculum. Science is NOT included in the book. We use cooking and books about the natural world to fill that gap.

We bought this to work on during the summer. My child enjoys the brightly colored pages. There are instructions on each page and a nice variety of activities for them to do. It's not just writing letters and numbers.

I really was e voted about this but my daughter is 4 and can already do everything in here. She’s not a genius or anything so I believe most kods could. I was hoping this would be more challenging.

Very little information on technique. Needs much more information about sanitization and licensing.

Great information with lots of detailed pictures. A must if you want to learn the details and values of antique American frames.

I bought this book hoping to get some real specific information on buying and selling antique american frames. I enjoyed reading this book because it gave me a bigger picture of how the frame styles developed in America (even though I also felt like Mr. Wilner's chatty tone seemed to talk down to his audience). I agree with some of the other reviewers in that this certainly is an enthusiastic book and creates awareness for people to look at what surrounds the picture instead of just looking at the painting. Antique frames should certainly be studied and written about and noticed and matched with the right paintings. I do have some complaints however. I am an antiques dealer and I have some other books in the Confident Collector series. I really don't think this book fits in the same spirit as the rest of the series. I think Mr. Wilner's prices are all off base with the real world of antiques and collecting. They seem to be a self-serving guide to prices in his shop alone. I go to lots of auctions and antique markets in many states and have been in the business for many years of selling both paintings and frames and I rarely have seen frames alone sell for the kind of values he is giving them. I know that prices are going up since more awareness has made people appreciate the so-called art of the frame more. I have seen that there are many exhibits and articles on antique frames in the last few years, and I have seen that frames are starting to cost more as people become more aware that frames can be as important as a painting.I know that people like Mr. Wilner are benefiting the public by educating them on what a good frame is. I agree that some frames are very valuable, like an original Stanford White or a signed artists frame (as described in the book), but it seems that Mr. Wilner's book attempts to make all American frames seem valuable and that just can't be true. It's not true of American furniture or other antiques, they all have highs and lows, so frames must too. Like for example simple black Eastlake print frames in his book are starting at $2500, but those kinds of frames can be found at nearly every antiques mall for well under $500. There is no indication in the text about why Mr. Wilner finds Eastlake frames are suddenly so valuable other than that he says so. Also Mr. Wilner's book seems to be the only one in the series that he is the only dealer listed. Other books list other experts and sources to buy or find out more about the specific antique. Overall, I think that for people who know nothing about frames and want some idea of what they are about and to learn some general history, the chapter text is quite informative but the dates of the frames shown are not in chronological order which is somewhat confusing. Unfortunately the black and white pictures are so small and fuzzy and such bad quality that it is very difficult to see the detail in the frames, so how can you tell if you have one of the valuable ones or not? The photo captions themselves don't really give much extra information I wish they talked more about the decorative motifs or described the frames better since the photos are so bad. As generalist antique guides go it's a decent overview. I would just tell anyone to take the Price Guide part of this with a very large grain of salt, since the frame prices seem to be on the moon instead of in the real world of american antiques.

It struck me as odd that people were tossing these things of craftsmanship and age simply because they didn't think they could profit in a monetary sense. It was the death and destruction of antique frames that has made them rare. So many died, so so many could live. I am sure marketing was the key factor in showing the buyer with the bucks the joy and appreciation of the vintage frames beauty. And so to Mr. Eli Wilner belong the spoils. I found the book enlightening and enriching. Dealers who trade in these wares should buy numerous copies and send them out to their customers for the holidays.

I've now made numerous items from this cookbook for her, and she has loved every dish. Try the pork loin with apple dressing, it's worthy for Sunday company. The meat loaf is also incredible.Additional tips: Invest in many, varied spices and fresh herbs, a good balsamic vinegar, and keep a bowl of fresh lemons on the table. There IS life after salt!

We spent over $70 just ordering low-salt cookbooks for my mother's Christmas gift as she was recently put on a restricted salt diet.. Out of the three we ordered, only one was "fairly" good. In the mean time, she ordered this one for herself and shared it with our family. I got this so I could provide proper food for my Mom after she had a heart attack. I was skeptical at first that there would be anything worth making or that it would taste good. I was wrong on both accounts. We have made a few different things from it so far and all have been very good. Some have even become a new family favorite. Was a very helpful book to have.
